Insufficient sleep is a prominent and pervasive problem for adults and children in today's society, which has been found to be strongly linked to negative outcomes in the ability to perform in work and school. More importantly, a lack of sleep has been shown to have a strong negative influence on health in both children and adults.
Thus, we have developed Stella, an app which helps children fall asleep faster and sleep for longer. Our founders and team take great pride in the fact that Stella is designed by parents for parents, with scientifically-backed content.
Stella can help create a bedtime routine that works for the entire family, which we believe to be key, to not only helping parents and children to get enough sleep, but also to reducing stress and conflict, which over time will have a positive effect on mental and physical health as well as familial relationships.
Studies have shown that social emotional skills are key to helping children succeed in life. These skills help prepare children for school, work, and personal relationships, as well as teaching them how to navigate challenges they will meet the world.
Furthermore, research has shown that children that receive effective social and emotional education have better classroom behaviour and are more attached to their schooling, two factors which contribute to staying in school through highschool graduation. In a world that is constantly changing, having strong social and emotional skills is a profound advantage, and helps to set children up for success in life.
We are Stella - different, diverse and inclusive
At Stella, we are strongly driven by a belief in that diversity helps us to better understand ourselves and others, as well as the world around us. We bring this belief to our product, were our stories tell and value multiple kinds of lived experiences, and use voices that celebrate the global range of spoken English.
Or definition of diversity is inclusive of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender identity, sexual orientation, family structure, neurodiverse learning styles, age, ability, nationality, immigration status, physical appearance, religion, belief systems, language, and more. We treat differences as being equally valuable to the norm, and advocate kindness, empathy and compassion. We believe that telling diverse, inclusive, and respectful stories enhances the social, academic and emotional intelligence of children, and lays the foundation for them to understand themselves and the world around them.
